Secondary Tools To Convert The Oven Toaster To SMT Reflow Ovens

By Megan Landry

It is very important to learn how to convert a toaster oven to SMT reflow ovens. The process to convert this is quite simple. There are simple directions that one can follow for it. Just as long as the person follows the steps in the process, then one can surely get things done easily in the future.

The conversion can only be done when one gathers the right tools for the project. It should be a given for the individual to look for the said tools. One can finish the task if one has the tools such as cleaning agents, soldering materials, flux, and some others. The toaster oven is a vital material too.

There are many other tools that one can find useful with this project. These are the secondary tools that one may or many not have for this task. If the person can find these secondary tools, then the entire project will be completed in no time. Here are the secondary tools that one might want to have for the project.

First of all, it might be useful for the person to have an acid brush. This acid brush can be used to clean up the existing flux residues that one has accumulated for the duration of the said project. Of course, one will need an IPA alcohol to use together with an acid brush. This should wipe off the said residues effectively.

Another non-essentials for this project is the alcohol dispensing pump bottle. With this bottle, one can meticulously dispense alcohol without having to waste a drop. The individual can just get the amount that one will need for the cleaning. More than that, the remaining alcohol will not evaporate because of air exposure.

Having a sponge with a hole prepared beforehand is useful. The hole in the middle gives the edge that will allow the person to use the sponge with an iron tip. It is also the best way to place for those used solder to fall into. This eliminates the trouble of having to try out cleaning the iron tip on those older debris.

It will come in handy for the person to get the temperature indicating crayons. This is an important material that will leave a mark when used. The left over mark will practically change color when a certain temperature is reached. It will be a good indicator one can use when the desired temperature is achieved.

Another one is the dry tip cleaner. This is actually a good alternative to use instead of a sponge. It has some soft metal curls, the latter coated in flux which is useful in cleaning the tip without getting it thermally shocked. If it does not go through a thermal shock, then this will certainly help with prolonging the tip life.

One should make sure to have the tip cleaner as well. This is because the tip cleaner is coated with a more aggressive flux in it. The aggressive flux can clean out stubborn residues. A polishing bar should help refresh the dirty tips. It is certainly one of the non-essentials for converting a toaster oven into SMT reflow ovens.
