Mark Twain mentioned the manual method in which mail was carried back in the day. Since then, mail has become a very important part of our lives. As a kid, I waited for hours on end to receive the most minute of items in the mail.

The last ten years have seen great changes. We use computers to do much of what we did in the mail. There is still a fair share of reliance on snail mail though at present.Mail carriers are still an important part of many people's lives.

What are their tasks?

They hand out mail and less regularly, packaged items.

What are the pros of being mail carrier?

One doesn't have to be qualified.Those who have just left school have a chance to work without qualifications. The pay is sufficient in some countries. Most mail carriers start out in the $25,000 dollar range. Those who have been doing the job for some time can command salaries of up to $60000 per annum.

Mail carriers constantly on the move get the advantage of physical exercise. They get to relish the air and being in the open. They expand their social circumstances they are always meeting new people on their rounds. They quickly become experienced as their work involves a specific routine. They are not tied to a desk for 8 hours a day and are free to deliver their mail. If they are a veteran, they can receive a lower score on the Postal Service Examination.
